This is a great movie...and unknown to me until the end,
it's based on a true story. But, to tell you the truth, the
real story seems a tad more interesting, and here's why: the
movie has Nash (Russell Crowe) imagining government agents,
but apparently the real guy was 'imagining' aliens on a regular
basis. Which would explain a couple things from the movie,
like him having an implant in his arm.
But, beside all that schizophrenia, this guy was a genius,
and came up with this pretty cool concept and hey, whadda
ya know, he won the Nobel Prize. All the while keeping this
girl (Jennifer Connelly) married to him, taking care of his
kid and him, until he magically 'overcomes' his schizophrenia.
That is, learns to ignore his hallucinations.
I've read these other reviews saying that Russell Crowe is
bound to win the best actor Oscar for the second year in a
row for this roll, and personally, I wouldn't object. And
what could be more fun for Mr. Crowe, than getting to act
out some lifelong LSD trip, make out with Jennifer Connelly,
get paid a shit load of money, AND win another Oscar?
This guy has it made.
All in all, it's good wholesome fun.
